Going by comments that Microsoft Exec Shane Kim has made, we should see Halo 3 released on store shelves in either September or November this year. Click on Read More for the full article.
As you should know, Halo 3 is scheduled to be released some time towards the end of this year. Speaking to 1UP, Kim said that Microsoft won't be shipping any first party titles in the month of October, as Grand Theft Auto IV will be released then. It will be an absolute monster, and there's no need to mess with it.
With GTA4 out of the picture, that leaves both Project Gotham Racing 4 and Halo 3 with either September or November release dates (Lost Odyssey is already releasing at the very end of the year). Most people would say Halo 3 would be in November, which is the traditional release month for all big things "Xbox", however Kim also said that September is not being completely ruled out either:
"We don't tell Bungie when they have to ship Halo 3. If they can get out before GTA4, they probably feel like that's better, sort of like Xbox 360 coming out before PlayStation 3."
He then went on to say that Halo 3 could still enjoy good sales if it was released in September, before GTA4, and then receive another big boost in November, ala what happened when they release Fable on the original Xbox. If it is September, would you be prepared? It would mean little more than 6 months to go!
