Sony have revealed that firmware version 1.6 will be available for European consumers to download for their Playstation 3 consoles when the system launches this Friday.
Speaking to Eurogamer this morning, the company stated that the update would not be packaged with the hardware, and instead would be available to download online via the Playstation Store.
The new update includes features such as increased backwards compatibility for Playstation and Playstation 2 games, background downloading along with keyboard support and handy additions to web browsing.
Additionally, consumers will also be able to use their PSPs remotely with the PS3 to connect to Wi-Fi hotspots, instead of having to connect to the console.
Playstation 3 launches across Europe this Friday priced at GBP 425/EUR 599.
