It seems that eBay history has been repeated in terms of the US and UK releases of the Playstation 3, with sellers now off-loading their consoles at less than retail.
With the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii launches, some of those lucky to get (several) preorders went ahead and placed their consoles up for sale on eBay, in some cases managing to fetch 2 or 3 times the retail price.
However, just as they did with the United States release of the console, people attempting to make a quick buck and do the same thing with the launch of the PS3 in the United Kingdom are struggling to even get their money back, with some consoles going for around £25 less than retail.
A few publications are putting this down to the fact that the console is so readily available over there (around 220,000 units are available as opposed to the 70,000 that were for the Xbox 360 launch), but I am sure some of you out there can come up with other reasons for the lack of demand.
