I recently purchased this ASUS notebook for gaming and seem to be having some sound issues. After using my head phones a few times, the sound no longer works when I unplug the headphones. External speakers and the head phones continue to function as advertised. I've checked all the settings and reloaded the drivers. Still they wont work. Has anyone else had this problem? _________________ SSgt Sparkman
I purchased an Asus notebook G2S two months ago and only after 2 days using it, i had the same sound issues as you !
Not only the notebook speakers didn't work, the SPDIF out (optic) didn't work too.
I made many tests to try to resolve the problem but i failed in.
I had to sent it to ASUS (following the procedure).
After 2 weeks without my new notebook i received it. ASUS repaired it with a "new component" : G2S MAIN_BD._0M/AS. It must be the main board!
I tested it like before and all sounds tests passed.
I detected 2 problems with the network card:
- Before upgrading the notebook BIOS, i was not able to install network card driver without freeze Windows (i try with Vista or XP).
- when i boot windows with a network cable (Ethernet) connected, Windows (i try with Vista or XP) stops at the progress bar. To resolve that, the only solution i found is to unplug and re plug the cable.
Till this week, the notebook works fine, but the sound issue has came back, i am very angry about ASUS and i will negociate to have a new notebook. I choosed ASUS because i believed it is a good brand but for the moment i am very disappointed.
